A fresh recruit of the Grey Wardens, an order of soldiers with the heightened ability to counter a race of corrupted creatures called the Darkspawn, must navigate political turmoil and racial division to unite an army capable of defeating the corrupted legion for good.
The End game was really disappointing for me. The Story all the way through is amazing and the game’s combat in the endgame is really disappointing. This game was on the way to be one of my favorites of all time but I played this on the Xbox one and I was on the easiest difficulty and the final battle was a shit show. The Game’s combat is nothing special but it is serviceable to the amazing story and companions. In the final battle they throw every enemy they can at you and it seems the armies that you call in to help you don’t do anything.
So there I was on the easiest difficulty constantly dying over and over because the game wanted to throw 30-40 enemies at you will only you and three other companions to fight back. I just decided I wasn’t going to waste my time so I just watched the rest of the story on YouTube. Very very disappointing for me since this game has some of the best Story, Lore, and Companions a video game can offer and was on the way to become one of my favorites.

How good is the combat? I really don't care. The story of Dragon Age starts out generic and features much of the old Bioware standby of sending you off to several places at the start, completing the main mission of each before bringing it back home for the finale. But great characterisation and well-placed interruptions liven things up, as do some interesting karmic choices that can interweave between each of these cloistered trials. You really get a great sense of place out of Ferelden, and it makes the climax at the Landsmeet feel like it means something, high praise for a game this drawn out.

Its a decent RPG, but despite my time with it there is not much i can remember about it. Positive stuff at least. The setting is some sort of third grade Lord of the Rings ripoff, but the characters and some of the locals are entertaining.
The combat is real time strategy with pause, but it feels really awkward to play and navigate the 3d environments. It offers a huge world, with a whole lot of sidequests and reasons to backtrack. The progression of your character as you specialize it, as well as the rest of your party, is pretty great and really the main thing that got me to return to this game.
I might be one of the few people in existence that prefered the sequel to this one.

On the surface, Dragon Age: Origins appears to be a throwback to Baldur's Gate, with the party-based gameplay and the fantasy setting (reminscent of the A Song of Ice and Fire books), but it is really an awkward amalgam of the low budget, traditional RPG and the modern, big budget action-RPG. The game tries to appeal to a niche audience and to the wider mainstream at the same time and is not truly successful at either. Like, the protagonist with no voice acting surrounded by fully-voiced side characters, or the detailed graphics for small environments. Many aspects of the game contradict or compromise each other in such ways, and the game doesn't have a strong identity as a result.. But I can't complain too much, because it's amazing that a major publisher would even bother with a game like this in 2009. Outside of indie development and Kickstarter, Dragon Age: Origins is the last game of its kind, and I can still appreciate that regardless.

I respect the thought put into this game but I never really got this. Characters are alright (if a bit on the edgy side) setting has potential even if its overloaded with tropes, story was alright, typical Bioware get the thing in 4 biomes, combat system was fine but encounters are so frequent and dungeons so long it got boring to me, especially fade + the dwarfen area
My thoughts exactly. As it stands even if they trimmed the fat and made it a more focused/less tedious experience, its so damn generic in its setting/presentation/story. The characters are very, very strong in typical Bioware fashion and it has some other things going for it but there is just as much dragging it down.
