I’m a fan of isometric RPGs and I think Colony Ship has a very compelling setting, so I was excited to play it. Unfortunately for a story-driven game the writing is very shoddy. The story and dialogue revolve around the power struggle of three military-political factions, but this conflict is shallow and not very compelling. All the more shame that everything falls to the wayside for it. The characters are lifeless, the quests aren’t believable or immersive. The pacing is all over the place. A symptom of all this is the dearth of female characters. I have met two so far and one is a doctor. The combat is fine, in fact it is probably the best thing about the game, but hardly a selling point. I dunno, I haven’t played that much of it, but this is all pretty glaring to me and I don’t think it’s worth continuing.
