Beat Saber is a rhythm game where players swing at notes that fly towards them to score points. There are multiple difficulty options, challenge modifiers, and the ability to download custom songs.
Basically osu! but VR but at least osu! was free and didn't require purchasing some tech fad in order to play it.

Beat Saber is a special game. On a personal level, it's what got me into VR. But it is also the most popular VR game of all time, and for good reason.
The premise is simple: you must swing in the right direction at notes that fly towards you. That's basically the entire game. It's Guitar Hero but for VR. The game is just so well tuned. Slicing through notes feels satisfying. The environment is atmospheric. Cranking the difficulty up and flowing to the best of a song is like nothing else. It's a whole new way to engage with music.
Custom songs gives endless replayability. The games three years old now and there are still tons of new songs coming out. The skill ceiling is incredibly high, so you'll likely not run out of challenge.
This game is like no other. Truly one of the most immersive games out there. It alone justifies the price of a VR headset.

Anyways, as much fun as this game is at parties, I only really see it as a novelty, like as much of a novelty as pinning down a tail on a donkey poster while blindfolded. Once that novelty wears off, it's just another dull rhytmn game like osu!
If I wanted a rhytmn game I could play everyday, I'd play Clone Hero intead. At least the music choices there are actually good (alongside some other reasons)
family member got a vr headset for christmas and ive tried a few games on it and been indifferent, but this is the first game ive WANTED to play on vr - unbelievably fun
