Stylish arcade flight simulator that's aged pretty well for being nearly 25 years old at this point. Most missions are basically either just aerial dogfights or blowing up enemies or structures on the land but the environments are well designed and vastly different from each other along with minor differences in the mission structure that none of it really gets old; grasslands, mountains, oceans, tundras, it's all pretty much here and looks fabulous through the power of low-res PS1 textures.
Some of the missions can be rather frustrating, like the "disabled radar" ones but otherwise it's a fairly smooth ride with not much penalty for deaths other than a slap on the wrist and a few bucks drained from the funds you collect for beating missions over the campaign.
If you have 4 or 5 hours and possibly a little more in order to do all the missions on both "routes", you really can't go wrong with Ace Combat 2. Make sure you play with the Expert control scheme.
