Classic title for the system. Only gripes are the floating with the up arrow instead of pressing A, and attacks seemed to be unresponsive at times. Fairly certain Nightmare in Dreamland fixed those. That being said, everything about this game is so delightful. Super Star basically perfected the Kirby formula, so this game basically laid the precedent for it.

Honestly the concept is interesting, but it is near fucking impossible to know what to do. You need to have a cheat sheet to reference what each bean does, and even then, you sometimes have to guess which one will work at a given time. Also, you will have to leap off of platform edges to what seems like death, but actually is not, which is really frustrating when plotting on your next destination. You just pray that it is not a death zone. The visuals are not really anything to write home about either. I dropped this after about 10 minutes. I don't give a shit that I didn't complete this game and still gave it a rating. I guarantee that I would not have fun at all even if I knew what to do in the game.

Probably deserves a slightly higher score, but 1) I kinda suck at this game and 2) I know for a fact the later entries further improve on this formula, because I distinctly remember playing Days of Ruin years ago and really enjoying it. This is a very kiddie-like presentation of a strategy game of this kind, but it does get the point across with extremely engaging gameplay and really forces you to use the utmost tact in every scenario. The music is surprisingly decent. The bass really comes though vibrantly, and the credits song was so triumphant. The final boss battle was fucking retarded hard.

Besides being needlessly tricky at times (the levels with the jumping fish and area 8-3 in particular), it is a serviceable platformer for the most part. I just got really tired of the absolute frame perfect finesse you have to employ at the dumb parts as I was finishing this game. Save states are a must.

An improvement over the original, but still leaves something to be desired. It still feels kinda average. Most of the levels feeling the same did not help. I cannot fault it for trying to be the next Mario, but Mario Bros just does this thing a lot better obviously. It is definitely a serviceable platformer though I am not trying to discredit this too hard.

This is honestly probably the best AC, in that you will get the most mileage due to updates/DLC (and also achievement system), but the novelty finally wore thin on me with this release. I never really fully played the GCN release, but I am willing to bet the soul on it is more timeless than any release they have done afterwards. They will never completely vary the goddamn dialog (the rudeness of the GCN release NEEDS to come back), the online community is mostly trannies, faggots, and socially awkward nerds, and items will never be as interactive as you would expect. DIY projects and terraforming are legitimately cool additions, but with terraforming, it really goes to show how limited the entertainment you get with it goes in the long run. Sure you can make a cooler and cuter looking town with these customizations, but then what? Share it with some shitty community? In a game like this, the community really makes the game for the most part. Wild World was the release that I actually enjoyed the community (gamefaqs), and really made the game last longer than it should have for me personally. I still got a good 70 hours out of this, but at the end of my enjoyment, it really left a sour taste in my mouth realizing what they could do to make substantial advancements in this series. End game goals seems rather limited compared to some earlier entries in this series as well. It is nice that they have DLC, but it seems they used that as a crutch to simply say (I know you might complete the game in a month, but wait every 6 months, and we will add a one-day event or two new items!). All in all, this felt like the most girliest SJW version of the series. It really feels like a dollhouse simulator with the cute pictures you can take with the smartphone (and upload the screenshots to lolTwitter). The ability to change your face and fucking gender was a tad much. It is almost like with the lack of dialog the villagers have, they made this an excuse to make a $60 discord to talk with other faggots. I'll give it this game looks pretty, the soundtrack is decent, and I like that the villagers have actual idle animations and interact with outdoor furniture occasionally...but in the end, it really is a let down as to what this series COULD be.

What the fuck was it with second outings with games on the NES? SMB 2, Castlevania 2, and Zelda 2 all felt really awkward and out of place in relation to their sequel and prequel counterparts. Sure they tried something new I guess, but they all really felt like the odd man out and weren't too fun to play. That aside, the music in this sounded just as good as the original. I dropped this after 10 or so minutes after really frustrating enemy patterns and inexplicable pathways/directions from NPCs.

A little soulless reimagining, but I could not help but buy this because I cannot be fucked to emulate the original 3. I feel the depth perception and hitboxes are kinda trash in this, but the core game is still just as great as the originals more or less.

Definitely the odd one out of the original trilogy, and it is very obvious to anyone that has an eye for detail and video game charm. Do not get me wrong, this game has charm in its own way, but this is not what I wanted after two exceptional entries. Kiddy is retarded, some of the level design is goofy, the bosses are ridiculous looking for the most part and David Wise wasn't involved in this for some reason. With the gift of hindsight, and playing the GBA version recently (w/David Wise score), I have gained some appreciation for the care to certain things the original did compared to the GBA version. GBA version is much easier is certain segments, sound design degraded, and even though Wise is back, he is making a score for a remake of a game he was never originally involved with, so I think his take on the levels were kind of odd. He did okay with the cliff and water levels though. GBA new world they added wasn't really interesting either. The original game sound design, some of the soundtrack, and the difficulty is something I can still appreciate to this day.

Functionally solid gameplay, which is why it gets a positive rating in my book, but just does not quite recreate the magic that the original two titles had. Enemies and overall presentation does not engage me at all really. Music is cheating, because most level rehash the original David Wise score. I would not call this soulless...but, it is hard to capture the exact magic and charm the original two brought to the table, in which both titles pushed the hardware to the max, and really broke unknown ground in a newly burgeoning home video game market. So much amazing NEW ideas were amassed in the original entries. Nothing really terribly new and engaging was introduced in this entry, outside of a few level design gimmicks. I think this game mostly relied on the greatness of the original two games to carry it, and it does for the most part. I just cringe when fucking ZOOMIE SCUM have the gall to say this is better than DKC 1 or 2. Please get educated and play the landmark games that made the series what it is before playing a new game and using that as your current precedent for game design.

This game really runs like a fantastic few episodes of the series, and I absolutely adore it for that. Found it frustrating at times at what the game expects you to present at certain times though. I had to look at a guide a couple of times. Gameplay felt very on rails, but they obviously kept the gameplay to a minimum to simply serve as a vehicle for the jokes and skits. The comedy really made the ride kind of worth it. Most jokes land very well, even better than most actual episodes of the series. Unfortunate Steven Colbert couldn't make his appearance for Phil (the substitute isn't bad at all but I can obviously tell it simply isn't the same), but it seems like the rest of the crew is present which is wonderful.

Kid Icarus 1986
Dropped after about 20 minutes to frustrating deaths. You will get to a point (especially when using save states) that you will die after one hit, and there doesn't seem to be any health items anywhere. Some enemies seem unavoidable at times, but it isn't really surprising because this is an NES game.

L.A. Noire 2011
The open world aspect seemed largely pointless, if only to act as a backdrop for the gorgeous revision of the 30s. You cannot interact with anything in the open world outside of the core missions that are issued to you. I mean sure, you can crash your car into shit, and if you run into civilians, you will get bad brownie points, but what the fuck. The gameplay is so on rails, the only real incentive for exploration is to enjoy the scenery with the jazz music that plays in your car.. This is still a good game because the dialog, story, and gameplay to an extent though.

Unbelievably charming and fun, this is the formula that totally set a precedent for Mario RPGs to come. Only gripe really is that collecting the beanstar pieces mid-late game felt forced, making you backtrack all over the map doing pointless minigames/scavenger hunts which felt really boring and repetitive. But yea, killer soundtrack, quirky dialog that really gives personality to everyone, fantastic looking sprite work, easy to learn/intuitive gameplay, and Mario nostalgia galore.

Really seems like a rough draft for the series with the privilege of hindsight, but a lot of great ideas were formed on this that were carried over to much more robust entries. Quite possibly the best part of this is how absolutely unforgiving minigames/bowser are, and how frequent chance times occur.

Even though I do not care too much in the direction they went in with 9 and 10, this new formula is not terrible. The biggest sin this committed is that it feels extremely lazy, however. Not sure why I played all these Mario Party games. I pretty much pegged exactly the ones I thought I would enjoy the most.
