"Art tells you what you are. If you think you are your ego, your self-image, the clothes you wear and the car you drive, you will be drawn to music that confirms that typecast. If, however, some part of you is prepared to accept that you exist beyond your place in society, your ego and your thoughts, you may find that your music doesn't define, rather, defies your culture, gender, sexuality and whatever else you think makes you separate. It's not a brand identity. It's a manifestation of the common heartbeat in all things, living and breathing."

Contrary to the web address, I don't rate my music. And I'm in the process of overhauling all of my reviews! Should be done in a few decades - stay tuned!

I very lazily misspelled Ulysses on my old account and then misspelled it again on this one. Finally I got it right! :D Beyond these three, the other accounts are rather more complicated....

hey dude... I really enjoyed your XTC's "Dear God" review. I am an atheist myself, and I've always suffered of that old 'giving god an existence in the way we talk about "him"'. It's really difficult to talk about god or refer to it in a natural way that makes sense, because you have to acknowledge god's existence in order to make it understandable to other people. The lyrics to Dear God's always bugged me for that same matter, and somehow I hadn't read the Dear God reviews before. So to find that somebody else is making the same argument that's been bothering me all this time, makes me appreciate your review even more. lol.
    Anyway. Later

    Hello !
I enjoyed reading your music reviews - good writing and thought provoking. although we have quite different tastes. I love Tom Harrell,s playing too. Try to hear him on the jim Hall album : these rooms.
Which instruments do you play ?
what about films ? No reviews ?
    Take care. Michel, from Warsaw.
