Hi there! To answer your question regarding At the Gates and Carcass being considered thrash, the answer is technically no. Early Carcass is grindcore and then pure death metal, whereas At the Gates helped define the more aggressive melodic death metal sound. That being said, death metal is really an extension (and result of) thrash metal, so it shouldn't surprise to hear thrash riffs and structures popping up in a lot of it.
