I've seen him once DJing and once live. The DJ set was cool, he played really varied stuff, but kept it flowing. Definitely more of a dancey/club slant to his sound though. The live show was friggin' AMAZING, probably in the top 10 shows I've ever seen. There was sort of a rotating group of musicians, horns, strings, vibes, a bunch of stuff. One guy just had a huge mixer and was doing that the whole time. Bonobo himself had a big synth/digital DJ setup, and he'd pull out the bass and play that for certain parts. And then vocalists would come out for those songs. Sounded gorgeous as hell, and so fun to watch all the different people doing their thing. The dancing and energy of the crowd was great as well. Like I said, can't think of many shows I've enjoyed more.
and yeah black sands holds a special place in my heart. its just the perfect album instrumentally and andreya triana's features are just amazing.
i've always wanted to see him live, but he keeps snubbing my city- except for a few months ago but i had an exam the next morning :((((((((
when you saw him live was it a dj set or a live one? i've heard his live performances are far superior cos he brings vocalists etc.
