Didn't you originally have that at only 2? Magnificent Obsession is another nice pairing of Wyman & Hudson but the narrative is a little convoluted and the ending doesn't quite hit the same high notes. My own grand tour is motivated by my girlfriend recording two podcast episodes comparing the approach to melodrama in John M. Stahl & Sirk's films. She despised Imitation of Life on first viewing a couple of years ago (mostly due to Sandra Dee) but I suspect there'll be a similar reappraisal of that one soon as we've both been blown away by the others since then. I might check out Rock Hudson's Home Movies too if you recommend more Rappaport.

curious on your opinion of the first 4 episodes of twin peaks? i loved them!

did you see the latest episode? oh my i think it might be lynch's magnum opus. i feel like episode 8's plot is almost as incomprehensible yet fascinating as inland empire. also noting strong eraserhead-like tone and imagery. the whole penderecki scene was mindblowing and also reminded me of brakhage's work a bit
