Greetings again, no problem, patience is good for me, although I didn't think you'd respond ;) I am currently surrounded by books (quite literally), and also began reading 'seriously' only recently as well. I haven't been reading long enough that I've acquired a favourite book, or even favourite authors, but currently I'm making my way through some Camus (4 plays), Pessoa, and I intend on going through some Sophocles and Abe (Kobo) after. It's tempting - especially considering how many books I own - to start reading more, but two/three is my limit, and I read sporadically.
    How about you?

You can find it in the PM I've sent you ;)

I've never heard of Vaneigem, or Michaux, but I read about them and am fascinated, especially with The Revolution of Everyday Life. Would you recommend it? It looks like a few of Michaux books have been translated too, I'll have to seek those out.

I really want to read The Trial but haven't been able to come across a copy ... Bataille is wild, too heavy for me ;) Just kidding, but I've yet to appreciate or dive in properly.
Where do you plan on starting with Nietzche? I have 'Thus Spoke' and 'Beyond' ... not sure if either would be a good beginning point, but I'm leaning on the former.

Hey, thanks for your interest - I’m very flattered! :D
atm I’m working on more film-related stuff so it wouldn’t happen until some point in the future. I find it difficult to rank music in a kind of structured or canonical sense (partly why I’ve avoided rating any music thus far) but perhaps I’ll try compiling a list of albums I greatly enjoy. For the time being though, we can always trade music recommendations if you’d like :)

And oh yes, I’m still just catching up now with Minelli but I really loved Some Came Running! The way he paints the cinemascope canvas (supposedly one of Minelli stylistic cues was the inside of a jukebox) and the precise attention to framing (oh man, those interiors) is immaculate. The ending in particular is massive and almost a microcosm for the film itself. Through transforming into the fairgrounds, the small, quiet town becomes a literal stage for the melodramatic exploration of these characters psychologies - the collision of neon lights, stark emotions, and jarring editing is unparalleled to me.

Okay, just sent you a couple music recommendations! Of course it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly which pieces have shaped my perception of music - I suspect it’s more of an resultant amalgam of music, literature, cinema, and personal life experiences. However I tried to pick out a couple works of music that have meant quite a lot to me personally for a long time. Let me know how you like them and if my notes make any sense, lol (I hope I managed to convey some sense of what these works mean to me, writing on music is much more difficult for me than writing on film).

Any and all recommendations from you are welcome :)
I don’t care about particular genres (genre’s usefulness for me exists more for its categorical purposes, rarely as a way to delineate aesthetic preference) so pick whatever you feel is most urgent for me to listen to!
