My Ratings
5.0 - Only albums that have been favourites for a very long time and hold a special place with my heart get this rating, which means that it is very rare. Oh, and did I mention, they must also have a near immaculate tracklist.
4.5 - While I never give albums a 5.0 from the off, on a rare occasion I grace I fantastic one with a 4.5. These are the masterpieces, albums with a certain spark to them that is creative, consistent and, most importantly, highly enjoyable. I don't give albums this rating for pretentious "objective art appreciation" alone, although I would be lying if i said it dosen't help.
4.0 - These albums are fantastic, many of them among my personal favourites, but although I love them, they always have a certain spark missing or a few bad songs, something small that may keep them from becoming 4.5s. They are all near-masterpeices though, and I am often a huge fan of them.
3.5 - These albums are very enjoyable, but often have quite a few flaws that keeps them from being anything special. They are fun to listen to a few times, and I consider them to be more good than bad, but there very common and nothing to write home about.
3.0 - The albums are fairly average, even a bit below. They are usually saved by a few great songs, but are mostly underwhelming to me. I still enjoy a listen here and there, but they don't really impress me at all, and are often mildly dissapointing.
2.5 - I don't hate these albums, as I have the kind of personality that makes it very hard to be too criticial of anything, but they often have little or no really good songs, and although they may contain a small amount of enjoyment, they are usually fairly boring and ones I only return to if they have a high critical reception and I (usually wrongly) believe that a few more listens will bring me around to see the light and like them.
2.0 -0.5 - As I said, I find it hard to be critical, and i geniuenly have heard nothing which merits ratings as low as this so far. Although I may have put one there at the time you are reading this, that will be to balance out the ratings, and there is no album that I have given serious attention to and strongly disliked. Sorry, but fimiliarity breeds a certain liking unless it is truly awful, and so far I haven't heard anything of the like.

Not all hipsters like The Beatles, far from it. Secondly, Stalin liked musicals. Does that mean musicals are evil? I.e. not everything hipsters like is necessarily hipster material. They're not robots. I think you'd have a point if it were John Lennon, but the Beatles were essentially unpretentious, at least for a very long time, and their music is mass-appeal stuff which hipsters aren't real crazy about.
To me hipsters gravitate toward pretentious bullshit that no sane music fan wants to listen to. Perhaps I am wrong in thinking that hipsters only listen to garbage, and the Beatles certainly are miles away from that.
