yeah, its interesting how so supposedly very popular music is completely forgotten about after it leaves the charts. certain bands have staying power, and others are just forgotten about, regardless of how popular they were at the time. i really hope katy perry is forgotten about. she's one of those ones i just can't stand.
the 89 batman may be something you had to live through. the new batman movies (which are fantastic also) may have made these obsolete to a certain extent. that batman is still my favorite superhero movie of all time, and one of my favorites. i was 10 when it came out, i think it (plus indiana jones and the last crusade) are what made me get into movies as a kid. nicholson's joker is still my favorite performance ever. i could talk about this for hours (lol), but i'll just say that i think the new batmans are better movies, but i still prefer the 2 burton ones slightly.
Iunno man, I've never read an NME article in my life, I just know they hyped those guys up. I'm sure even they aren't dumb enough to think the Arctic Monkeys had one of the greatest albums ever.
King of Pop = Brian Wilson... no, there is no "king of pop", but if there was, it sure wouldn't be MJ.
Yeah I don't have anything against MJ, he has a few great tunes.
and re: the Pop list... true, pop and soul certainly overlap, but that list is more focused on the pop and pop/rock that derives from the Beatlesque / Wilsonesque influence (with a few exceptions).
dudeeeee...'drive slow' and 'we major' are two of the best tracks on Late Registration. Two incredible beats on there, and Nas's verse on the latter is just awesome
No worries dude, it's all subjective. 'We Major' is pretty long (although the production is varied throughout, that wall of gospel vocals is pretty joyous). Mind you, Blame Game and Runaway are longer and they're two of my favourite Ye tunes.
