Hi there; yes, one of my composition lecturers actually taught Dillon (this was in Glasgow University) some time ago. I know some of his music but I'm not as familiar with it as I'd like to be. "Helle Nacht" and "Spleen" are really good pieces in my opinion, and I like "Sgothan" for solo flute (of the same standard as Ferneyhough's flute pieces, I think).
Thanks for the Ferneyhough, by the way! I'm just listening to it right now, it strikes me as quite a remarkable piece on first hearing.
Yes, making another lovely list; unfortunately it is going to have to be left unfinished for the time being, as I have to leave this cafe in order to get some job-related crap done. The summer heat has been making me incredibly lazy (as though I weren't enough so to begin with)...it seems all I have really been doing lately is playing piano and wasting time at cafes.
P.S. One other thing: I listened to Ferneyhough's string trio yesterday, and it was a complete disgrace...I ended up hearing it like background music, even though I didn't want to. I don't know what is wrong with me.
Saludos.
