Saw that you were one of my few friends who had given a listen to some of Mary Halvorson's stuff - I just got into her via Dragon's Head (after hearing her name of NYT jazz podcast) and ended up at Away With You. What did you think of that record?

Yeah, it's definitely not straight ahead by any means, to the point where I'd understand if someone just straight up didn't like it. Even though I'm pretty decently versed in jazz even I have trouble getting into some avant-garde stuff, but there is just something about Halvorson - her playing, compositions etc...I've definitely heard stuff that influenced it but maybe nothing exactly like it, which is very exciting
