Hey, that's alright, those are some great choices anyway. It is very hard, I know, after I finished mine, I thought of quite a few more that could've fit on the list. I do absolutely love Bryter Layter, it's the sound of spring for me, and I love that at times he sounds almost happy, for someone whose music is often associated with gloom... I still need to listen to Joni Mitchell properly myself, as well as Astral Weeks (only listened to it once) but Heaven or Las Vegas is absolutely sublime as well, especially the bookending tracks and the title track (though my personal favourite from the Cocteaus would still have to be Treasure). I'm mostly only familiar with one Stereolab album (Emperor Tomato Ketchup) the song "Cybele's Reverie" would have to be one of my favourite songs ever. I do love The Avalanches as well, and what you said about that album made me think of Boards of Canada, another of my all-time favourites, in how they make electronic music that manages to sound very human and organic...
P.S. I also found your enthusiasm for Pond quite inspiring, and I was wondering, what did you think of their new album? And I suppose, what are your favourites of the year so far and what are you looking forward to most? Probably a bit of a basic question, but am curious nonetheless. :7)

Gosh, I haven't heard of most of those... will have to check out. Crack-Up is great though, probably in my top 5 as well. My picks would be a bit more conventional, I guess, and you could see them on my 2017 list if you wish.

Yeah, I'm not sure I can exactly say what drew me to the Dirty Projectors record, it is very quirky and sometimes not in a good way, but I suppose there is something about it that has kept me coming back, and those two songs are definitely the main highlights for me as well.
As for DAMN., well, it's definitely a step back, but I suppose that's the only way he could go at this point, and I wouldn't have expected it to be as good as TPaB, but I guess it still feels like an advancement of his sound, in a way (I'm really bad with words, sorry...).
And I think the more I've listened to Crack-Up, the more I feel like it's my favourite of the year, it really is an amazing record.

nah it's fair question. i guess it comes down to me having sort of a love/hate relationship with the internet. it serves as an escape for me when i'm feeling super lonely but by the time i realize that, i feel weird and i need to abandon ship (remember there was a time when i was super active on the tnd forums). then it's time to reevaluate my life and start making changes. it's happened a few times (maybe too many) but everytime something good comes out of it 0:
