Endlessly searching for any interesting, obscure (..and not so obscure..) Prog, Psych, Soul, Funk, Jazz and occasional Disco (....mixed with a tragically unhealthy fondness for the kind of evil, commercial, blatantly poppy 60's & 70's Bubblegum, Sunshine & Power Pop that's really unhip to like....but like it I do...:-)

RATINGS GUIDE....

5.0 - Outstanding - A great record I've had for years that I never get sick of...
...or alternately, a record which (..in whatever genre) is the best it could possibly be for my particular taste...
...or alternately again...a record which has some truly outstanding tracks that are so life affirmingly good, the few ordinary tracks contained therein are rendered irrelevant to the rating.

4.5 - Essentially a 5 record, that for some **indefinable** reason I can't give a full 5 to....yes, I know this makes no sense.

4.0 - Mostly Excellent - Excellent overall, but with maybe some noticeable minor issue (...erratic sequencing, 1 average track, mediocre sound etc..)...or alternately a first class effort that just lacks that tiny extra bit of magic/inspiration/creativity to take it to the next level.

3.5 - Very Good - A solidly admirable effort. (...a mix of Excellent/Ok/ and Average stuff...with (..at least) a side and a bit or 3/5th's of a record of decent music)

3.0 - Good - (...a mix of Excellent/Ok/ and Average stuff...with (..at least) half a record of decent music)

2.5 - Average - (...a mix of Excellent/Ok/ and Average stuff...with just under half a record of decent music)

2.0 - Low Average - A record with a couple (..or on rare occasions maybe 3) good tracks...or alternately...a record which for all appearances ain't that bad but has nothing really better than average music contained therein, listenable but forgettable...

1.5 - Poor - A sightly better rating for the crappy stuff where it seems it deserves a bit of leeway, but does absolutely nothing for me. Might contain 1 decent track.

1.0 - Very Poor - Mostly totally crappy. Might on occasions contain 1 decent track...but gains it's rating by mercilessly torturing me with the sheer horribleness of the music I'm subjected to on the way to discovering the 1 good track. I've heard, that up in the wild hills of Alabama, and the parts of Kansas that don't get cable, all the townsfolk get together, form a posse, hunt you down, and hang you up by the balls if you subject them music this bad....

0.5 - (special rating) - A potentially great record that's been totally ruined by someone's ill advised input ....nothing more annoying and frustrating than that.

With all the ratings...there's a bit of hazy leeway and/or overlap in either direction depending on the quality (..and quantity...) of the music....it's not an exact science....:)

I was gonna spend most of my time on Prog (..hence my RYM ID..) but was majorly distracted big time by the v-a-s-t selection of assorted ...and brilliant... stuff in all genres floating around the web...
My reviews are a combination of the streamed stuff I've found, heard...and lived with a bit, and the vinyl Lp's & CD's in my collection.

My Wishlist stuff...is music I might own in a Los-Res Format but wish to get Higher Res...Preferably Vinyl..maybe CD, or download. I prefer music in a Physical Format..for now..., however I'm running out of room for lot's of Vinyl & Cd's in my modest living space...:-(
