Space trading and combat

Space trading and combat games are set in an open universe in which the player starts out controlling a relatively small, inexpensive space ship and can make money to upgrade through avenues such as cargo transportation or piracy. The player can also often take part in one or more storylines which typically emphasize faction-based conflict or exploration. Elite is considered a pioneer of the genre.
