Still a classic CRPG and blobber, but it feels like this was made at a weird point where the technology allowed for significantly more complex and in-depth gameplay systems, yet didn't allow for proportionally improved usability and convenience. Which is to say that it's far more complicated (and therefore potentially a lot more satisfying) than the previous games, but also can be a lot more of a headache to actually play through, and optimal play demands a whole lot of careful character planning way ahead of time. A perfect example of how the improvements under the hood outpaced those on the surface is the fact that the mountain area, the swamp, the forest, and the river Styx all look completely identical, using the same castle-interior graphics as every location in the game. It's still worth a play, and the character growth and class switching alone is robust enough to be really interesting, but it takes some serious effort to get into.
