It's house of the dead with a keyboard mod basically. Not too much to say, its cool how you can coop and compete against a friend for the highest score. Single player on hardest is quite easy though, really mindless. Type the words as they display on screen. The cutscenes/writing/story is really unnessesary, actually cringy as hell, unfunny, and not good. Some of the levels look cool and are kinda badass with good scary enviorments, others are really bad and uncool (carnival) It's short, can be beaten in 1 or 2 sittings. The bosses really suck except some designs are memorable (cow boss)
Not much to say, its a typing game!

The arcade shooting game, The House of the Dead: Overkill was originally released on the Wii, then later ported over to the PS3 with two additional stages. Typing of the Dead actually includes this game, alongside its main Typing of the Dead mode; so you get two different experiences for the price of one.
I spent a long time with the Wii release, and it was definitely among my favourite Wii games. Playing using a mouse is surprisingly fun, but it doesn't live up to the experience using a remote which comes close to the original light-gun controls in the original games. In the two additional levels, you play as the strippers Varla and Candy rather than Agent G and Washington. In addition to this, it has been touched up graphically, but don't expect anything amazing, because it's meant to look grainy and low budget.
With Typing of the Dead, words appear on the zombies which you must type in order to defeat them. There are all sorts of words and phrases to type, ranging from normal words, to nonsense phrases and rude words. The selection will definitely bring a smile to your face.
When zombies throw projectiles, they are usually assigned one character so are easily blocked. However, you must be careful because if you are already typing a word, you either need to hurry and complete the word, or press backspace to cancel out. It can be easy to deliberate in indecision and end up taking the hit.
The text boxes have a border colour which gives you an indicator of the threat. So zombies that are preparing to attack flash red, while safer zombies show green. This should help prioritising the words.
Special items lay amongst the level and these can be picked up by pressing the Tab key. This can be abused since you are not penalised for pressing Tab when its not appropriate. So often you can pick up items when you didn't actually notice them.
Boss fights aren’t as interesting as they could have been. You usually just wait for a small interval then type a word as normal, then this sequence is repeated multiple times. It would be better if there was more variation of game-play in these sections such as giving you whole sentences to type.
The game takes around three hours to finish, but there's scope for replaying the game. The words are randomised to help replay value, and you can aim to beat your previous score. There's extra difficulties to try too, and don't forget the original game is included!
You do see repeated phrases so the dictionary isn't actually as big as you would imagine. There are extra dictionaries to download as DLC which are a bit pricey at £1.99.
I'm not convinced that this game can teach you how to type fast; it seems to test how fast you can type already. I found that it was a good game to play in short bursts, about two levels per session because it can be quite fatiguing with the amount of characters you have to type.
Overkill is based on grind-house horror, so has high quantities of sleaze, zombies, vulgarity, controversy and grainy graphics. It's all outrageous and seems even more crazy now that you have to type instead of using a gun. It's surprisingly a great deal of fun and it would be nice to find more games like this.
