Backbone Entertainment is the result of a merger between Digital Eclipse Software and ImaginEngine in 2003. The company later merged with The Collective in 2005 to form Foundation 9 Entertainment. The company continued publishing under its label until 2015 when Foundation 9 dissolved and Digital Eclipse rebooted as an independent studio.
