I saw this game at one of the libraries by where I lived and decided to randomly check it out. It seemed interesting enough on the box, it had an old school RPG look and I thought it couldn't be a long game, after all, its called longest 5 minutes. But to be honest, the title doesn't lie, this game literally is the longest 5 minutes. It starts off interesting enough, you fight a massive boss and have amnesia, so you must recall your journey up until when you reached that boss, so the game mostly takes place through flashbacks, which have you exploring 3 separate islands and going to different towns and dungeons with your friends. The story is actually pretty forgettable and generic, and most of the characters are just boring RPG stereotypes with no personality. The gameplay itself is just mindless, I honestly just spammed attack for 90% of the game and won all the fights, including bosses. The game is super easy and offers really no challenge. The first 2/3 of this game are actually very linear and the dungeons are super straight forward with almost no branching paths. Later on the dungeons get a bit too convoluted and get annoying because you'll get lost and have to deal the annoying random encounters. I really didn't enjoy any of the dungeons in this game nor did I find any of them to be well designed, they just felt like some beginner went into a basic RPG maker and created a dungeon with no prior experience. Hell you could get an average college kid gamer and they could likely design more interesting and less tedious dungeons than the ones in this game. The boss fights are also pretty lame and offer no challenge. Even the final boss in this game was mostly a pushover, and I was underleveled as hell but just alternated between spamming group heal and attack and breezed through it. The game really drags out too long in the final 1/3 with longer dungeons and dialog. Hell the final hour or 2 of this game is almost all dialog with almost no gameplay and it just gets tedious since the story is so uninteresting that I found myself rushing through most of the dialog.
I mean this had potential to be good, it had an interesting style of storytelling, it had an okay enough World and could have been a solid short RPG, but this is really a mobile app store game at best that you'd play on your cellphone and pay like 2 bucks for. It just has really bland and generic design with an uninteresting story and odd pacing where the first 2/3 of the game feel a bit rushed and the final 1/3 just feels too dragged out.
