Frankly, I question the merits of this remake. I was kind of disappointed that it was so faithful to the original. Ultimately, I did decide that the QOL upgrades made this version worthwhile and probably more accessible to newcomers, but the original has much better visuals and is just overall a lot more charming. It arguably has better sound design, too. Nostalgia may play a role, but I find the visuals in this remake to be a bit off-putting, and the enhancements to the control don't really make or break the game. Ultimately, it's worth playing whichever way you can most easily play it, but I don't really see myself playing the remake again and have already played the original version again since this was released.
I love this game so much that it hurts. About to do another 100% run. I wonder why this one is rated so much lower than the GameBoy version. It’s a stellar remake that I consider better. The graphics are incredible.
"The original has better visuals" is a crazy take. Pretty much all Game Boy games have aged terribly (or at least not that well) imo. This is a fantastic remake

The additional buttons for the items are great but the original has a much better atmosphere and aged very good.
