The Last Stand: Union City

A massive step ahead for the series. No longer a defense game, it has transitioned now into a action horror game. Your ultimate objective is to escape, however to do so you must travel a long away through the infested cities. Search the uses for better weapons and medicine, and find the occasional survivor which you can help through quests. There is even the chance of getting companion to follow you on your journey.

The game offers a level of depth and quality that is really unusual for a free browser game. The weapons are satisfying to fire, but they are also unreliable, with lousy aim and sometimes hit detection. There are moments that the game throws huge amount of zombies waves at you and its easy to become overwhelmed. I died a few times, the penalty seems to be a reduction in your xp, which kinda kills the suspense of the game a bit. There is also an RPG leveling up system, very similar to the one found in fallout, in which you can upgrade your skills with weapons, lockpicking, medicine, trade and so forth. Its a bit deceptive though, as its much better to improve the combat skills since its what 95% of the game will be about.

Its a journey that took me almost 2 hours to complete, and it gripped me all the way. The variety of level design, progression of difficulty and even story are good enough to prevent the game ever become stale. You become a damn powerhouse towards the end, and the ending is satifactory. Great browser game, definitly amongst one of the best i have played.
