In the years following their escape from the Splatterhouse, Rick and Jennifer have married and have a young son. However, the creatures of the Splatterhouse have invaded the home, and are now holding Rick's family captive. Rick is forced to put on the Terror Mask for a third time to save his family and banish the evil from his life once and for all.
It's still no Final Fight, but this is by far the best of the first four games. The imagery and setting might not get quite as outlandish, but the moment-to-moment gameplay has some actual substance to it, the game actually has a unique room-based maze structure that offers some choice and replay value, some goofy dramatic cutscenes, and the graphics overall feel very crunchy and moody, even if they aren't as imaginative or colorful as the first two games. Also best Terror Mask design hands down.
