god the way that like, during the final boss, if you hit the water below you just plummet at a 100mph into the infinite blackness of the ocean until you're a spec, provided some of the most nightmarish imagery i ever saw as a kid
i think this is the first game i ever sat down and played by myself as a kid, i was 4 or 5. i remember vividly that the pause menu did not have a straight up "CONTINUE" button, so everytime i paused i would reset the entire ps2 cause i thought it dosent let you leave. (you just had to press O)
