Spider-Man

While I'm not the biggest fan of the film, it's way better than this tie in game as peters emo whininess is the least of this game’s problems. Heck even the jumbled story isn't a big issue due to how poorly put together this game was.

The main problem is how barren the levels are, it's basically New York without any interesting landmarks which wouldn't be so bad if there was anything interesting to do between mission objectives. You'd think the developers would put in collectables which encourage exploration, but they don't which means you'll be swinging around New York for minutes on end while finding you next objective. The controls are also not great, the game wants to be combo heavy like devil may cry but can't pull it off due to peters swinging mechanics making him grab onto buildings more often than his enemies. It also has the same issue as dmc 2 in that the levels are too spacious to pull off extensive combos, although at least there's no real incentive for doing so meaning it’s not affecting the overall gameplay here. The graphics are also atrocious here, it feels like it was a ps1 game that was put on newer hardware at the last minute and so upscaled to reflect this. It’s not the worst looking early Xbox game but halo this ain't.

It's a game that disappoints, admittedly I'm not that angry with it given my apathy to the film, but I can imagine fans being mad at this tie in.

It's an improvement over Enter Electro, but the gameplay was/is dated (This has the same gameplay as Spider-Man (2000) and Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro).

I remember having this as a kid when I loved Spider-Man games and really enjoyed the 2 PS1 Spider-Man games, but this on the other hand sucked and even as a kid I didn't like this much. It just felt awkward, the level design was weird and the combat was super basic and boring. Actually I can't really say many good things, it was really generic, the boss fights were boring, the game was super easy and repetitive, and it was incredibly linear. It wasn't until Spider-Man 2 that the formula was perfected. Even the actual actors from the movie voicing their characters couldn't save this, its just incredibly dull and generic and the only redeeming thing is it manages to at least be competent and isn't broken, but that's about the only good thing.

Recycles so many elements of the first with no imagination or ingenuity (besides the awesome inclusion of Bruce Campbell), but the technical upgrades are nothing to sniff at considering how wonky the original was. It is about as good, too long levels besides.
