Space Quest I brings a bit of fresh air compared to the pathetically elemental and sappy King's Quest and has many very pretty astounding-looking cutscenes and minigame sequences(like a sandspeeder ride, gambling and shooting stages), that is a good indicator of the kind of variety that will permiate later adventure games. At least it is also a bit more logical than what the King's Quest series propoposes so it has aged much better. As you'd expect, it is also filled to the brim with Star Wars references, effectively telling the story of Episode IV(ship assault, desert planet, mothership spying and its destruction).

This game would be fantastic if you just completely removed the gambling """puzzle""" in Ulence Flats. I've never seen a game - not even a Sierra game - that so blatantly expects you to abuse the save system in order to simply progress the story.
