Released on the heels of Mario Kart 64 and Diddy Kong Racing, Snowboard Kids took the throne in 1998 as the best "kart" racer on the N64 as far as I'm concerned. Some of the game's more unique features would become staples of the genre, such as its shop, in which you can purchase board upgrades and paint boards. Cash is earned across the game's three modes not only at race-end, but on the track as you pick up scattered coins and pull off flips and grabs. Battle items must be paid for, adding another dimension to the gameplay: do you save hard for the next board upgrade or pick up the next item on the track to try to get ahead?
Colourful and creative tracks, great music, AI and characters, and a pleasant frame rate unite to complete Snowboard Kids. Tons of fun and difficult to fault.

You have to understand the chaos of multiplayer to truly love Snowboard Kids. No other game had less distance between first place and last place, especially with the ski-lift mechanic and power-ups. It's complete nonsense and a blast of a party game.
Yes, this is a game meant to be played with friends. Solo is still a lot of fun, but multiplayer is truly fantastic (even though it's a total cluster).
