Sleepwalker’s Journey is a puzzle game. The sleepwalking Moonboy marches forward in his dreamland, and the player must manipulate the environment for Moonboy to reach his bed. There are 3 objectives in the level which determines which medal you receive for completing the level (bronze, silver, gold).
The first objective is to collect the numerous stars that are scattered throughout the level. The second objective is to collect the three moons, and the third objective is to complete the level within the time-limit. Completing the level moves you onto the next level, but meeting the objectives will award you with the medals, corresponding to the number of objectives you meet.
You can fast-forward to speed Moonboy up, and if you make a mistake, you can rewind time. These actions are independent to the timer; so rewinding doesn't make up for lost time, and speeding Moonboy up will help you meet the time-limit.
If Moonboy falls or hits a wall, he will lose a couple of his stars, so it is up to you if you want to try and carry on, or rewind time to avoid your mistake.
As you progress through the game, you are introduced to new game mechanics. You will be moving platforms and ramps, firing cannons, making Moonboy jump, activating fans to push him across pits, and leading him onto pillows to change his direction.
As the level scrolls, you need to keep looking ahead in order to make quick plans and react in order to keep Moonboy on the level and to collect all the items you need. Since you can rewind time, making a mistake isn't too bad, but then it is easy to fail your time-limit objective. It's probably a good idea just focussing on collecting all the stars and moons on the level, then repeat the level to try and replicate your achievements under the time-limit.
The game's visual style is nice and suits the game. The simple game-play makes it easy to pick-up and play for a quick go, and it is intuitive and easy to understand the game's mechanics. Achieving gold on all the levels will pose a challenge, but even a less skilled gamer can progress through the levels and have fun.
