Another PS3 launch title that I got bundled with my console... And soon traded in. I still can't understand the rave reviews this game recieved. So this was the first PS3 game I EVER played, and man was I disappointed. I thought my console was broken, it looked like a PS2 game in terms of graphics. Horrible drab browns and greys. Now I know a World War shooter isn't exactly meant to be vibrant, but previous games like Call of Duty 2 and Medal of Honour: Frontline still had much more on screen atmosphere and character in the visuals. In terms of gameplay, this was one of the dullest, most generic FPS' I have ever witnessed. Even with the premise of combining a WW2 shooter with an alien shooter, this was inexcusibly bland, FPS 101. I failed to care about any of the inane plot or characters, the controls were stiff. I had to give up half way through because I couldn't make myself care about this horrible game any longer, and I know I've not missed out on anything. The one saving grace of the game was a decent multiplayer, and since it was the first time playing a Playstation game online, I spent more of my time here. However this did not make the game worth keeping or worth continuing trying to like. Fortunately Resistance 2 would be a significant improvement over this game, but oh what a terrible, terrible way to begin the PS3 saga...

    This game was such a surprise - no cover, very limited health regen, hold 10 weapons at the same time, just run in and blast the aliens like in good old Doom or Serious Sam. Soul of a classic FPS in a misleading brown+bloom skin. Sad that they ruined this forever immediately afterwards.
