Resident Evil: Code Veronica[バイオハザード コード:ベロニカ], the fourth game in the Resident Evil[バイオハザード] series after 2 and 3. How does it compare? Very well, actually. It's just as good as it's predecessors, honestly. The gameplay is intact, sure, it's a bit more action-y, but it's nowhere near the level of Resident Evil 4. The pre-rendered backgrounds are gone in favor of the new 3D but the angles are still very much intact, the puzzles are great, and of course, there is a good variety of gunplay. This is the first RE title in the 6th generation so the graphics are better, but not in a entirely other field because this was literally 3 months after the first console, the Dreamcast, had come out, so it's not nearly the level of Resident Evil Zero or Resident Evil[バイオハザード] on the GameCube.
The story in the game is pretty crazy, and definitely hard to predict, it introduces new characters with ridiculously fleshed out backstory, through the use of various logs you can find, as usual from the RE series. The difficulty in the game is good, as a true survival horror game should, but something that needs to be mentioned is there just isn't enough ammo for you to kill everything in the game, you're gonna need to save those precious grenade launcher rounds or you'll be in for a tough time. The bosses are really cool, definitely, especially the final boss, wow-factor and scare-factor are very high here. It's an above-average title and a very good amount of length to it, so I can recommend this one easily.

i was hopping out of my chair from how fucking hype the wesker vs alexia fight was. also why do ppl hate disk 2 so much? its a little bit of re-used content but the gameplay, destroyed map and story is so fun
Played 2 hours and good god was it boring. You know how the last section of every classic RE turns into a shooting gallery, where the level design becomes just corridors with no shortcut loops. Well this is that but just straight from the beginning.
And dual wielding is just janky. Half the time the character wants to look cool and aims one of the guns at a fucking wall.
there's way more shortcut loops than RE0, which isn't saying much I know, but it's definitely not just a corridor. there's a reason newbies get stuck in this game and don't know where to go.
also the left shoulder button will aim at one enemy if you're dual wielding.. which is barely in this game anyway
but seriously this game is amazing and if you know what you're doing/don't find classic RE games to be challenging idk why you'd dislike this game. might be the most entertaining and I wish the series had more wacky stories like this (shout out village)
It is the hardest classic Re and though classic RE punishes the player for going around places without knowing what to do, code veronica punishes even more so, to the maximum. But i agree that if you know exactly what to do that the game is very good, better than village
