Overall, it feels like playing a RE2 Remake DLC with minor graphic upgrades. Good atmosphere and decent gameplay until it lasted, but definitely not worth the price. I recall the original game being relatively short and too similar to its predecessor as well, but this time they even cut out entire areas like the Clock Tower and just recycled maps and assets from RE2 Remake instead. Even though it looks like the intent was to provide a more action-packed experience in contrast to the puzzles and exploration of its predecessor, the final battle and ending felt a little too basic, if not anticlimactic.

Even as someone who never played the original you can really feel how painful the removal of the Clocktower is. Played this in one sitting and though the Hospital section was enjoyable, most of the rest is super tedious and two-dimensional on account of the lack of puzzles and the mediocre blending of action into RE2R gameplay. You may as well play either RE2 or RE4 rather than this muddled crap, which is a shame as if it hadn't been rushed they could be a legendary remake trilogy
I can't stress enough just how much I hate what they did with Nemesis here. Mr. X who is only in RE2 for like an hour outside his boss fight felt more threatening than Nemesis. That's not supposed to happen.
actually really enjoyed this as a middle ground between re2make and re4make. feels much less like it's own thing and like more of a stepping stone, but considering i got it for cheap on sale: that's fine with me!
I never played the original so I don't know much about Nemesis in that one, but here he's reduced to a gimmick, annoying linear sequences and boring boss fights
Dreadful opening. Any game that takes 20 minutes to actually get you into normal gameplay has terrible pacing.
Mr X is more of a stalker and intimidator than Nemesis and that is insane. How can the original Raccoon City in RE3 1999 be more of an open world than the remake?
The zombie models are just ripped straight from RE2R, but have had their graphical decay/dismemberment which was terrifyingly good in RER2 removed completely.
The game is so on rails after its first area it is just boring. I loved RE2R, I hated this.
this game is the definition of mediocrity
I also think it's funny how the game introduces new enemies then immediately forgets about them and just throws regular zombies at you
