Finally, a remake that could improve and refresh an obsolete classic while keeping the original atmosphere intact. The gameplay mechanics are mostly unchanged but updated to the latest standards for third-person action games. The most significant difference is that the fixed camera is gone, and lighting effectively is used to create a claustrophobic feeling while we walk through narrow spaces with our flashlight in hand. While the original game had fixed camera and tons of light to make details visible, we are now forced to proceed carefully and use our ears to spot zombies and other threats. I would recommend playing on Hardcore as the limited opportunities to save your game create even more tension.
Running away, hiding, and dodging are usually preferred when facing zombies, as even headshots will take a few bullets and resources are limited. Aiming at their legs and arms will slow them down, but even without legs they would still keep chasing you. Killing off most of them will result in an easier experience at the beginning as there's a lot of backtracking, but it will make the latter part of the game incredibly challenging as loots get scarcer. Unfortunately, crafting is as obsolete as it was in the original game. Despite the rooms being full of details and objects, there is no opportunity to try uncommon combinations of items to craft equipment.
Overall I enjoyed both Leon's and Claire's campaigns, even though they have very little variation. It's alright to recycle the same areas, but it doesn't make sense that both characters had to unlock the same doors, solve the same puzzles and kill the same bosses. As their stories are supposed to be happening at the same time, it would be smarter to show the effect of Leon's actions on Claire's campaign and vice-versa.

The fixed camera mod is pretty cool, but the controls/combat were not designed for this adaptation at all lol. Took a while to feel quasi comfortable with it.
The best iteration of zombies in games, love them as enemies and how they look and sound. The sewers and lab are inferior to how exceptional the RPD is, but they still are very good areas. Just roaming around the areas feel good by itself, perfect ambience. Great game.
