Pokémon Puzzle Challenge

While containing 80% of the same content as Tetris Attack GB, released four years earlier, Pokemon Puzzle Challenge makes up for it with a bevy of quality-of-life fixes and unlockable content.

The puzzle and challenge modes now automatically save your progress, which is obviously a welcome improvement. The color palette is bright and varied, and the music is extremely catchy. Having a puzzle mode that you can actually come back to instead of having to save a password is a godsend.

Another really rewarding feature is that unlike TAGB, you have to earn your extra characters by completing certain objectives throughout Challenge Mode, which then permanently add the character to your team. These objectives are HARD, and not something to be taken lightly, but earning a victory on them feels very rewarding.

Not sure what else to say about this. Out of all of the original Tetris Attack games, this one is among the best, and it's among the best puzzlers on GBC.

Actually a very well-done puzzle game in terms of difficulty, content and ties to the core franchise, with your Pokemon lineup essentially measuring lives in the arcade mode, a nice touch. For a handheld game, it has serious legs with various static missions and organic survival mini-games.
