"Let's Go!" brings you back to "Pokemon Yellow" with speedier and more accessible gameplay. It's great to see the characters and Pokemons that made us love the series decades ago coming back with great graphics. After all, these are still the only gym leaders I still remember by name. Replaying the whole thing the same old way for the 100th would have been tiring, but the simplified "Let's Go" dynamics cut most random encounters and frustrating battles. It might not be the best gameplay direction to take for new chapters, but I found it a refreshing remake.

If you're satisfied with replaying a pretty faithful to the source material rendition of Pokemon Yellow, with an annoyingly cute Eevee or Pikachu by your side, then I would recommend this game to you.
If you've been an avid Pokemon fan for years, and you've replayed through Kanto a bunch of times already, it's hard to recommend this over FireRed or a Gen 1/Gen 2 Romhack like Red++ or Crystal Clear. There's not much meat on the bones here, and every system (no abilities, no held items, limited variety of Pokemon and moves) has been stripped to the simplicity of Gen 1. Catching XP, partner move tutors, and candies all serve to make this the easiest Pokemon game if you don't go out of your way to avoid using these new systems. And if that's what you choose to do, then why don't you just play those other games I mentioned?
The graphics are pleasant, but I actually prefer the look of Sun/Moon, with more realistic character proportions and less adherence to structuring environments on an obvious grid. Battle animations look exactly the same, just at higher resolution. Music is okay, I guess? I haven't been overly fond of any rendition of Red/Blue's soundtrack. This game feels like a step down from the interesting and varied soundtrack of Sun/Moon.
I don't hate this game. I enjoyed having a cute Eevee by my side. I enjoyed Pokemon following you once again, and even being able to ride some of them was cool. But if you don't love those small details, if you're not itching to replay Kanto, then there's nothing here for you.

good lord do they crap out a lot of these games. Often 3 or 4 titles a year and they're all essentially the same. That's what I'm assuming the low rating is for. As someone who hasn't played any pokemon since the Blue on Gameboy Color, this will probably be fun.
Wait... you don't even battle with Pokémon anymore? Lol ok so the most interesting part of the game is gone now replaced with an easy minigame of pressing a button to catch them. And pikachu is so OP you just waste every enemy in a trainer battle. This is insanely watered down.
