Title
A more than worthy addition to a wonderful franchise!
PVZGW2 is a beautiful game in everyway imaginable. From the endless hours of gameplay to the eye catching colourful graphics, this game really has it all!

When the game opens for the first time, you are greeted with a fun cinematic which introduces both the new and old playable characters, with the emphasis of Corse being on the new characters. This 'fight scene' is done to the song 'Danger Zone', which keeps popping up throughout them game, and although only a small detail, I personally feel that the song is a great fit. This opening cinematic does a good job of establishing the roles and abilities of the new characters and so i would call this opening cinematic a success!
You are then placed in a short but sweet tutorial, which unlike most games is fairly fast paced and a very good introduction to the game even for players who have already experienced the game before. You are placed onto the 'backyard' map as a sunflower and have to defeat some enemies before escaping with Crazy Dave back into the plant zone. Pretty simple but fun.

After the tutorial, you are sent into the backyard, an area which acts as a fully interactive world in replacement of a menu screen. I personally feel that although the customisation points in each side of the backyard feel quite limited in numbers, it is a pretty good home world. As mentioned, my one complaint would be that customisation points feel limited and so maybe adding more around the map could be nice, but that's just a minor point really.

In terms of Single player gameplay, the backyard has it all. A fun campaign mode where the new characters are introduced, a flag defence game mode and even just the aspect of being able to attack the enemy side in order to fight bosses and hero's to gain exp for your characters. the world really does feel alive at times.

The multiplayer is similar to GW1 but with some new aspects. There are game modes for both fast and slow paced gameplay so there really is a game mode for everyone whether it be the capture the flag type game 'suburbination' or the more trigger happy mode of 'death match', everyone is bound to have fun.

The character system is this games only flaw. It started out strong with the characters only being unlocked through sticker packs which you buy with coins that you earn in game. And i liked this system, and i still do. But EA ruined it by adding character packs which you can buy with real money which takes away the thrill of opening sticker packs in order to unlock that legendary character which you have been working so hard to get...

Another aspect of the character system is the character ranks/upgrades. Each character and variant of character can level up to lv10 before being upgraded a rank and repeating the process. each upgrade gives a cosmetic rank as well as 20k in game coins, which as a fair reward. While levelling up your character, you can gain character upgrades which provide in game advantages such as increased movement speed and life regen, and while these may seem unfair to newer players, i think that it is a fitting way to reward players for sticking with one character for such a long time.

So to give a basic summery, this franchise was my childhood, and I'm sure that many can share that experience. This game is just one game in the franchise, but i feel as if it is the perfect game to represent just how much potential the series has outside of the tower defence genre.

I honestly just wish for a remaster or revival of this game.

i think the game is too bloated and trying to do so much at the same time that the quality gets spread apart. The main campaign has objectives that are too repetitive, the coop horde mode is too easy, and the multiplayer is not that satisfying due to how bullet spongey the enemies are. I do like the comedic tone of the game, and the family friendly visuals, but there is not a lot of depth to grab on here.
