the 5 minutes before my gf and I figured out the controls was one of the funniest and most fun gaming experiences of my life. after that it was completely forgettable
I don't think I agree with the reviews saying that it's too hard to pick up against somebody who's played the game extensively. Anybody with experience in any sort of competitive game with repeated rps elements (obviously fighting games primarily but there's lots of other competitive games with similar elements) will intuit what's going on and be able to leverage their skill in a matter of minutes. Obviously this still leaves a large crowd who won't have this prior experience, but it then works as a good introduction to that skillset.
