Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

the kingdom building is amazing

I finished the first game like a month ago and I loved every second of it and now I'm not sure if I wanna play this one knowing beforehand that there are no unimos anymore :'(

Amazing game. The combat is rewarding, the dungeons are so much fun to traverse, the kingdom building is very in depth, and the story is sweet. My only complaint with the game is that skirmishes are required to finish the game. Besides that, phenomenal game.

inferior to the first game in terms of story, dialogue and cutscenes. But the mechanics and gameplay are superior and fun, just skip dialogue and enjoy the world and dungeons

I never finished this game but it's so wild that the intro cutscene is the president getting bombed

The gameplay loop for this game is sooooooooo good. I feel like level 5 perfected what they have been doing since Dark Cloud. I do wish the story and characters where stronger but the sense of exploration of the world, growth through the city management, and some of the best action jrpg combat (on the higher difficulties imo) made this game a total joy to play through beginning to end. Also bosses had no right to be this good lmao

Fun enough, but this has to be one of Joe Hisaishi's weakest scores (still decent though)
