Narcosis feels to me like the less successful brother of SOMA, both being psychological horror game set under the sea. Narcosis is more grounded on reality and has none of the sci-fi. The few monsters you face are sea life creatures, which can be terrifying actually. Also terrifying is how dark everything is, and how desolate you feel.
You play the story as a man left alone in a dive suit at the bottom of the sea after an earthquake destroys the research center. The path to the end is very linear, and at times the game feels very much like a walking simulator due to the limited amount of interaction to your surroundings besides walking. Its a game in which you play for the atmosphere, as well as the very well performed voice acting and narration. There are some optional collectibles scattered around the levels, but i dont think its worth the hassle.
Overal i had a good time with it. Visually its just average, and there is some jankiness to the jumping and walking around objects. The story though short is compelling, and the game takes a bit more than 2 hours to finish with little to none replay value. I say its worth playing for the atmosphere alone.
