Title
This was the first remake of the medieval game, it's one I want to love as there's so much more personality here than in the original, however I only admire it at best due to it having bad collision detection which can make this game frustrating to play.

My only complaint here is the collision detection, well that and the new aiming system which also doesn't work very well as too often Dan will be firing at the wrong target due to it constantly locking on something that you don't want it to. These two elements sadly cancel out the positives of the game as they're both vital to the gameplay as opposed to a mere hindrance like the running mechanic in the original game. This might be a remake of the first game; however, it takes several aspects of the sequel and implements them here as well. This includes Dan having a sidekick with Al zalam which stands in as Winston from the original, a carnival level, a level where he needs to disguise himself to gain access to an area (this replacing the lake from the original but takes place in a coastal town regardless) and even including Egyptian elements such as the Anubis stone, likely a reference to his love interest who was an ancient Egyptian princess. The game looks great which is impressive given that it's a psp exclusive, the environments from the original now look lush and have great draw distance compared to the original where entire buildings would suddenly pop in due to the short draw distance. The game is also way funnier as it makes no attempt at appealing to an American audience like the original did and instead goes all out on the British humour that was merely sprinkled in the original. A good example of this is that the boiler guards are no longer nazi coded given how they've lost their thick German accents and behave more like anthropomorphic boilers rather than ss soldiers. Several levels were reworked to iron out the kinks of their original counterparts, the enchanted forest, scarecrow fields and the ghost ship being notable examples. Pumpkin gorge and the pumpkin serpent had been combined into one level, the crystal caves are now dragon Island and is just the boss battle with the dragon, haunted ruins now include a river of lava to dispel of its previous level and the lake is now scurvy docks with the disguise mechanic I mentioned earlier. The story, gameplay and basic mechanics of the original are all the same here. They're just implemented in different ways which is disappointing considering the poor collision detection and aiming.

Had the developers worked out the flaws of this game, it would be a superior experience compared to the original, as is, it's a disappointing game brimming with potential and in desperate need of a second chance.
