This one was surprising--the best basketball game on the console when it was released, for sure. It's easy to learn, gameplay is fluid and it feels great to play all-round. Players are easy to see and don't become a blurry mess when they converge like in many of the N64's sports games prior, though I wish the 'selected player' arrow was more visible. If prior efforts such as In the Zone '98 have anything over Courtside, it's the sound; here, crowd chants in particular are almost unbearably repetitive. Crowd volume can be adjusted, albeit at the cost of atmosphere.

Linking When you mention an album, artist, film, game, label, etc - it's recommended to link to the item the first time you mention it. Doing so will make it easier to search for your post and give it more visibility. To link an item, use the search box above, or find the shortcut that appears on the page that you want to link. You can customize the link name of shortcuts by using the format [Artist12345,Custom Name].

One of my favorite early video game memories is when the announcer would yell “Allan HoOuston!” whenever he scored. Our shitty tv speakers would rattle every time if it was turned up enough.
