KAMI

Kami is a simple puzzle game. You are given a rectangle area with coloured squares, and a selection of colours. You select one of your colours then tap a square. The connected area of like-colours is then recoloured. Your aim is to make the entire area one colour.

Each puzzle has a target amount of moves you should complete it in. Meeting that target gives you a Perfect rating, and missing it by 1 gives you an OK. Any more than that and you have failed.

There aren't that many puzzles and some puzzles feel a bit too similar. You will only get around 2 hours from the main puzzles. Then there's the “Premium” puzzles too which have some weird colour schemes.

It's a simple idea and is enjoyable enough for the brief time you will play it.

This could serve as a definition of a pleasant casual puzzle game: the idea is simple and intuitive (change the colour of an area, try to change the whole game field into one colour in as few moves as possible), the visuals appealing in quite abstract way, and it is kind of soothing to go click couple of puzzles on your phone or computer. And it's cheap too.

Casualness comes into play also in that it's not particularly difficult game (at least for someone who has played his share of abstract logic puzzles, like me): I went through the basic levels quite easily, scoring plenty of perfect tries at first go and with a bit of thought got the rest too. The premium levels available at least on Windows version look a bit more challenging, but probably not excessively hard nuts to crack.

A casual diversion, well done as such but little more.
