Guild Wars is a really cool MMO because it tends to forego all the grinding conventions of MMO and increase the importance of skill and teamplay. Every player reaches the max level at 20, which really only takes a couple of hours to get there. Since you are allowed to respec your skills at the press of a button, there is always room to try out new things, though you cant change classes.
The plot of the game is gripping enough to keep you motivated, though i cant recall much of it right now. But it is well written, and accomplishes to give weight to your action despite being nothing more than fetch quests.
Visually it looks ok. I can excuse the poor textures because it is an MMO, but the game actually has nice particle effects and it runs really well.
The main quests are especially challenging, and usually require a team of four to complete. Even then, without any sense of coordination the party is bound to fall. Some of these missions throw literally waves of hundred of enemies at you with little time to breath. There is a rating at the end of the mission, encouraging replays.
I love the addition that you have to beat bosses and steal their special abilities.
Towards the endgame you will also have acess to pvp arenas, though i did never try my luck in them.
Overal its the best MMO i have ever played, though that is obviously not saying much. The lack of subscription is a bonus for me of course.
