First impression was that this is just Dead Cells with a new coat of paint (albeit a GORGEOUS coat) and slightly worse controls, but after spending a little more time with it there's definitely a unique feeling to how it plays. Less frenetic hack-and-slash, more slow-paced and deliberate, not entirely unlike a classicVania game (though I also played with the whip a lot, which probably contributed to that). This also might be one of the single most gorgeous games I've ever played, which imo makes it worth the price of admission alone.

Side note, it's kind of killing me how little attention this game is getting, not just because it's good, but because I desperately want to encourage Konami to actually make good games again, and if this is a quality standard they could meet regularly I'd be thrilled. I hope to god this game does well enough to catch their attention.

Similar to Dead Cells in terms of gameplay, Undying Moon lacks the depth in it's combat (which is much more deliberate like classic Castlevania) and progression that makes the the later so addicting. Undying Moon is a barebones but beautiful game and ultimately a testament to Konami that they can still give their old franchises love when they really want to.
