Research is an essential part of most games. Most productions need some level of research on subject of the game or perhaps elements in the gameplay. When dealing with a classic literary work, seeing what works and what doesn't in previous adaptations is a wise move. A glance at the help file shows us that they have done extensive research on Frankenstein. Either this was the most useless research ever or they intended to make another generic Frankenstein story. Tim Curry, in one of his few great roles, plays Frankenstein as a morphine-consuming sociopath with a god-complex. Despite being even a desecration of the character, Curry's performance is captivating as he randomly pops up throughout the game. I guess whoever plays the monster is doing a good job, but eh, he wasn't really that noticeable. Through the Eyes... plays out like Myst, without the lights on, in an extended maze. It's not find the two pixels of almost black in a screen full of black, but it's still a poorly done gothic horror game that involves pixel hunting. I dislike wandering through twenty screens of featureless castle trying to find my way back to the experiment chamber. The monster in this story is a man wrongly hanged for the murder of some unfortunate girl, and now he attempts to replicate the doctor's experiments. It's the one good idea in this mess of a game, and even that was done better in Promethean. It's sad that a game I had such hopes for basically exists for Tim Curry to be awesome, but not even Tim Curry can overcome the poor design of the game.
