Something about both expansions throws me off. Something I cannot place, and renders me incapable at rating them. They're not bad, but their vibes are off... The base game just feels the most complete in some sense.
First few levels with the inclusion of the South River Wastewater Treatment Plant can't be beat for me. That is where the layer betwixt the real and the unreal is the thinnest.
When people criticize this expansion's graphics they're mainly talking about the pre-interval 4 levels. Interval 4 shows that it hasn't suffered a downgrade, it just used it's lightning wrong.
Perhaps it's the large open and exterior spaces that are ultimately to blame. F.E.A.R.'s engine always handled them poorly aside for the sky. The sky at night is severely under-appreciated. It has slowly twinkling stars, moving clouds and moon glow.
