Evolution is an interesting compilation of several arcadey mini-games(six of them to be exact), all of which pertain to several stages of the heavily abstracted evolution of animal life. At first you begin as an amoeba, where the objective is to collect food particles while avoiding enemy micro-organisms. The future stages include trying to sustain yourself as a frog, a mouse, a beaver building a dam(by crossing over a river Frogger-style), a gorilla shooting monkeys that steal their food, and lastly, an indearingly Robotron 2084-esque shooter where you as a human need to fend off alien soldiers. Aside from an interesting premise, the mechanics do not have anything to offer than what the arcade standards of the time allowed.
The naive ideas seen here would become a much better groundwork for Deus Ex Machina released next year.
