Title
Custom Robo is quite a unique little game for its time. A sort of action and RPG hybrid, it feels like Pokemon but with real-time, fast-paced battles. Indeed, the plot and dialogue are as thin as Pokemon's, perhaps even more so; your character receives a custom robo for his birthday, after which you're guided through a number of tournaments, modding your robo with different fighting abilities along the way. The battles themselves are where Custom Robo shines: the controls, handling and camera are excellent, and the action is fast and fluid. It's fun for a time, but repetition and a lack of depth leave things feeling a little dull.
