    Man, I really want to love this game. I like the idea of Contra-style gameplay in an urban setting closer to something like Final Fight. I like the character designs and animations. I like the way they experiment with the Contra formula by including the upgrade system from Gradius, multiple playable characters that you can switch between on the fly, and a focus on destructable environments. It's all really ambitious for an NES game, and that's kinda the problem. The NES just can't handle this thing. Maybe it was just the platform I chose to play it on, but the slowdown mad it almost unplayable at multiple points, and some of the platforming segments were painful even without the slowdown. Maybe a technical tune-up would turn this into a fantastic game, but as it stands I just don't find it very fun to play. At least the soundtrack is good.
