Code of Princess

Code of Princess may have the distinction of being one of the most misunderstood games of all-time, and that may have something to do with an admittedly poor first impression. When you pick the game up from square one, Big-Tits-Bigger-Sword-Chan is not very smooth to control, or she doesn't feel as such. The controls are fine, but *she* is very, very slow. And weak. Feelsbadman. HOWEVER...

This is because the devs chose to make this initial sacrifice in order to make what is long-term easily one of the most varied and customizable side-scrolling brawlers of all-time. There are well over 40 different characters to play as, all of them play totally different from each other, and *your* versions of the characters can play totally differently than other people's versions due to the stat allocations upon character level up and equipment. Hate how sluggish Solange feels? Put all your points in speed and she'll move and attack like a blur. Don't care, but want her to hit like an 18-wheeler? You can do that too! And you can do that with every single character, custom spec your own massive brawler roster. It's awesome.

Campaign is good, chuckle-worthy, light-hearted fun, and multiplayer is excellent with tons of team options for your couch co-op purposes.

Code of Princess was quickly written off by many who were expecting a straight brawler that wouldn't change, improve, and broaden in scope with continued play. Those who persevered, however, were rewarded with an unrecognized classic.
